Government Rebates & Incentives

EV incentives and charging programs can change throughout the year, but there are real savings opportunities available for many EV owners and property owners.

If you are buying or leasing an eligible electric vehicle, Canada's Electric Vehicle Affordability Program may provide up to $5,000 toward a battery-electric or fuel-cell vehicle, or up to $2,500 toward an eligible plug-in hybrid vehicle.

For larger charging projects, additional funding may be available. Federal infrastructure programs can support qualifying EV charging projects with funding of up to 50% of eligible project costs, including up to $5,000 per Level 2 charging connector and up to $100,000 per DC fast charger. Indigenous businesses and communities may qualify for higher support, up to 75% of eligible costs.

Ontario also has public charging infrastructure programs that may support qualifying public EV charging projects, with funding available up to $1,000,000 per project depending on eligibility, location, site access, and project type.

For homeowners, one of the biggest financial advantages is still the day-to-day savings of charging at home. With Ontario overnight electricity rates as low as 3.9¢/kWh and regular off-peak rates around 9.8¢/kWh, a properly installed Level 2 charger can make EV ownership more convenient and help reduce fuel costs compared to gas.

During your free estimate, Powered Electric Niagara can help you understand what may apply to your situation and point you toward the most current incentive information before your installation begins.
